A place for living and exchange in a vibrant city.

Differdange, though Luxembourg’s third largest city, had no high-quality shopping premises: a lamentable gap IKO wished to fill by developing a shopping centre designed to meet the needs of the community.

IKO decided to build an ultra-connected site in the centre, easy to reach on foot and by car.

IKO was keen to create a site that was not just a shopping centre, but a place where the people of Differdange could truly live, meet and feel at home.

Strongly rooted in local life, “Opkorn” literally means “on the River Chiers”, and its metal cladding on the façades evoke the region’s steelmaking past.

The materials used on both the outside and inside of the centre are extremely high-quality, making Opkorn a warm and welcoming area.

The Opkorn shopping centre contains an Auchan superstore of 4,200 m², some 30 shops in all sectors (fashion, beauty, services, and so on), five restaurants and snack bars with terraces (bar, brasserie, tea room, etc.), and three kiosks.

Right next door, the base of the Aurea Tower adds to the business and office space offer. Commercial success is a given!
