The first phase of the Rout Lëns neighbourhood has reached a key milestone by obtaining Carbon Footprint Neutral pre-certification, awarded by Energie et Environnement S.A.. This marks the beginning of a pioneering Carbon Footprint Neutral pre-certification process for the entire neighbourhood.

The Operational Carbon Neutrality of the first phase was achieved through:

🍃 Significant improvements in the energy efficiency of the three buildings, reducing their carbon footprint by 60% compared with the Carbon Footprint reference value.

🍃 The integration of renewable energy sources and the implementation of Callisto Luxembourg’s geothermal heating network, combined with photovoltaic energy production covering 91% of primary energy needs.

The Embodied Carbon Neutrality of the phase was achieved through:

🌳 The adoption of low-carbon construction methods, in collaboration with our partner CLE Compagnie Luxembourgeoise d’Entreprises, reducing the embodied carbon footprint by 38% compared with a standard development.

🌳 Full carbon offsetting of residual emissions through a reforestation project in the Bois de La Longine, certified under the Label bas-carbone, in partnership with Stock CO2.

This certification positions Rout Lëns as the first development to adopt a carbon-neutral trajectory for an entire neighbourhood.

It also highlights IKO Real Estate’s commitment to sustainable construction in Luxembourg.
