Premiere of the film Legion 44 in Luxembourg on May 6, 2025

After being screened in Paris and New York, the film Legion 44 was presented in a Luxembourg premiere during an event organized by IKO Real Estate, in collaboration with Mangrove Capital Partners, Converginvest Capital Partners S.A. and ATOZ Services, in the presence of H.R.H. the Hereditary Grand Duke.

Directed by Leila Conners, an American filmmaker known for her environmental documentaries such as Ice on Fire and The 11th Hour, this new film offers a vision focused on action in the face of the climate emergency.

Concrete and innovative solutions for decarbonization

Legion 44 takes us on a journey to discover innovative projects across the globe – from Kenya to Oman, from the United States to Switzerland, via Germany – led by companies committed to developing Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) solutions. In the face of the climate crisis, these initiatives offer tangible responses by capturing carbon dioxide – the primary greenhouse gas driving global warming.

With an optimistic perspective, the film moves away from alarmist discourse to highlight a generation seeking tangible answers to environmental challenges.

Among these solutions, some are directly inspired by nature. This is the case of certain rocks that can naturally absorb CO₂ from the atmosphere. Thanks to technological advances, this natural phenomenon can now be accelerated and allow for long-term storage.

The film also highlights other innovative solutions, such as seaweed. Sargassum, for example, has the ability to naturally capture CO₂ during its growth. The approach involves cultivating it in open sea to optimize carbon absorption, then harvesting it before decomposition in order to avoid methane emissions. Once harvested, sargassum can then be processed in various ways.

A powerful message that resonates with our commitments

At IKO, we are proud to have supported this hopeful project. In our sector, real estate, the environmental challenges are immense. It is no longer just about reducing and offsetting our carbon footprint. Beyond our ongoing offsetting actions, we want to go further: to design and develop more responsibly, and actively explore innovative approaches to carbon capture like those highlighted in this film.

Legion 44 reminds us that it is time to take action.
