The first phase of the Rout Lëns district has reached a key milestone by obtaining its Carbon Footprint Neutral pre-certification, awarded byEnergie et Environnement S.A.This process marks the beginning of an unprecedented Carbon Footprint Neutral pre-certification approach for the entire district.
The operational carbon neutrality of the first phase was achieved thanks to :
🍃Significant efforts to improve the energy efficiency of the three buildings, reducing their carbon footprint by 60% compared with the Carbon Footprint reference value.
🍃 The integration of renewable energy sources and the implementation of the heat network.Callisto Luxembourgusing geothermal energy, combined with photovoltaic production covering 91% of primary energy needs.
The embodied carbon neutrality of the phase was achieved thanks to
🌳 The adoption of low-carbon construction methods in collaboration with our partnerCLE - Luxembourgish Compagnie of Entreprisespermettant de réduire de 38 % l’empreinte carbone incorporée par rapport à un projet standard.
🌳 Full carbon offsetting of residual emissions through a reforestation project in the Bois de La Longine, certified under the Low Carbon Label, in partnership withStock CO2 | B Corp™ Certified.
This certification positions Rout Lëns as the first project to adopt a carbon neutrality pathway for the development of an entire district.
It also highlights IKO Real Estate’s commitment to sustainable construction in Luxembourg.
