Launch of construction work on Rout Lëns' first block: inaugurating a sustainable urban vision
Launch of construction work on Rout Lëns’ first block: a sustainable urban vision in motion
Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg. On 2 July 2024, the Rout Lëns eco-district reached a major milestone with the launch of construction work on its first residential block, Block 14. Located at a strategic entrance to the district, this ambitious project developed by IKO Real Estate comprises 185 homes and promises to reshape the urban landscape of Esch-sur-Alzette.

A commitment to innovation and sustainability
IKO Real Estate, a key player in the Luxembourg real estate market for more than 30 years, once again demonstrates its ability to deliver innovative projects despite a challenging property market context. With the recent signing of contracts worth more than €250 million, IKO reaffirms its commitment to supporting the construction sector and promoting sustainable developments.
A response to the housing crisis
With nearly 1,400 new homes, including 30% allocated to affordable housing, the Rout Lëns project directly addresses the housing crisis while creating a resilient and sustainable living environment. The Rout Lëns district aims to become a model for high-quality, inclusive and environmentally responsible urban development.
Residences designed for community well-being
The Liicht and D’Haus residences, at the heart of this first block, embody IKO Real Estate’s commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency. Liicht, with its 47 light-filled apartments and generous outdoor spaces, and D’Haus, with its rooftops inspired by former workers’ houses and its community spaces, have been designed to encourage social interaction and residents’ well-being.

An exemplary public-private partnership
The delivery of this project also reflects an innovative collaboration between the City of Esch-sur-Alzette and IKO Real Estate, illustrating a shared commitment to providing high-quality housing without economic distinction. This approach ensures the harmonious integration of all housing segments, fostering a dynamic social mix within the district.

A project driven by a strong and committed team
Sandra Huber, CDO and Head of the Rout Lëns project, expressed her gratitude to the teams and partners:
“A good project is, above all, built on a strong and committed team. We would like to sincerely thank all the teams and partners whose commitment and collaboration are helping to bring the Rout Lëns project to life and make it a reality.”
